What causes nepal flood #shorts #nepal #flood
About this video
High in the Himalayas, near the Nepal–China border and at an elevation of around 5,200 metres, a massive section of glacier and mountain material reportedly collapsed. The collapse sent an enormous amount of rocks, sediment, ice and debris plunging hundreds of metres toward the valley.
The debris entered the Lhende Khola River, creating a temporary blockage and causing water to accumulate behind it. When that blockage failed, the trapped water was suddenly released downstream — producing a powerful flash-flood event.
Reports also described an extraordinary rise in the Trishuli River, with water levels reportedly increasing by around 9 metres within just 30 minutes.
But there is another mystery.
Some reports initially connected the glacier collapse to a 4.4-magnitude earthquake. However, seismic signals detected around the event may instead have been generated by the massive glacier collapse and debris movement itself rather than being the original trigger.
